Just returned from a week studying with John Leonard RCA at the McMichael Canadian Art Collecton in Kleinberg, Ontario. This was a fantastic opportunity for me to work beside other advanced artists and further my art training. The result of the course will be an exhibition called Progressions IV at the McMichael in the Founder's Lounge during the early part of winter 2015. It is a cooperative effort between the McMichael and the Fleming College-Haliburton School of the Arts.
The week passed quickly with a long commute from Oakville at either end of the day and 2 evenings of meetings added on for good measure. Monday was full of enthusiasm and excitement. Tuesday was crash, burn and fret whether I was actually up to the challenge of producing a work worthy of the exhibition at the McMichael. By Wednesday I was more settled. By Friday I had produced a total of four 12" by 16" acrylic paintings for John to choose from. Sixteen paintings, all 12"x 16" study size, will be shown at the renowned McMichael gallery in winter 2015 and one of them will be mine!
Following the exhibition at the McMichael, the exhibition will make a tour stopping at several locations in Ontario.
I am so eager to get into the studio tomorrow and begin the 3' X 4' version of the McMichael study. Actually John suggested a 6' x 8' but...
